Abrams Fensterman Announces Major Expansion of Its Mental Health Law Practice Through New Affiliation Aimed at Students with Mental Health, Psychological, and/or Substance Abuse Problems

The New York-based, full-service law firm of Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Greenberg, Formato & Einiger, LLP announces a new linkage between the law firm’s Mental Health Law practice and Campus Behavioral Health Risk Consultants (CBHRC), a consulting firm which deals with mental health, substance abuse, and related issues. The new affiliation is in response to the significant increase in mental health and substance abuse issues arising in lower and higher education settings in recent years. The law firm’s new affiliation with CBHRC will enable Abrams Fensterman to broaden the scope of the mental health legal services it offers to those students and families in need of such expertise.
“With the incidence of campus violence on the rise, we are reminded of the importance of mental health expertise in this unique area of legal practice, which encompasses health care, education, family and criminal law, and other related practice areas.”
CBHRC is a consortium of legal, clinical, public policy and law enforcement experts. It was created by Carolyn Reinach Wolf, Esq., an Abrams Fensterman partner and head of its mental health practice area in response to the increasing number of students with substance abuse and mental health-related problems.
CBHRC offers consultation, evaluation, training and education to assist parents and campus administrators in formulating strategic responses; making informed decisions; creating effective policy; and preparing for a variety of evolving, urgent and emergent mental health situations.

Ms. Reinach Wolf notes, “With the incidence of campus violence on the rise, we are reminded of the importance of mental health expertise in this unique area of legal practice, which encompasses health care, education, family and criminal law, and other related practice areas.”

The CBHRC initiative gives the Abrams Fensterman law firm the opportunity to provide its clients with access to counseling and creative interventions for students and families who are coping with legal problems related to mental health, developmental disability, and/or substance abuse issues.
Among the many services available to clients of the firm’s mental health practice area is a 24-hour, 7-day per week answering service, with attorneys in the mental health practice “on-call” and readily accessible at any time of the day or night. This allows for timely intervention and treatment arrangements in an urgent and/or emergent client situation.

Abrams Fensterman was established in 2000 through the merger of top attorneys with decades of experience in specific areas of law. With offices in Lake Success, New York City, and Rochester, the firm provides sophisticated legal representation across a range of practice areas. One of the areas in which the firm has built its excellent reputation is as the “go-to” law firm for the healthcare industry. The firm represents thousands of healthcare providers, including hospitals, nursing homes and medical providers.
